If you installed solar powered electricity in 2011, you need IRS ITC Form 5695. Access it here. You should fill this form out and file it with your 2011 taxes. The linked file has 5 pages including directions.
We will update this link when for 2013 filings, for customers who have had or are having a solar system installed in 2012.
Please remember to contact your accountant if you have any specific questions regarding properly filing your taxes and claiming your Solar Investment Tax Credit. This is a good idea before you decide to get a solar system as well.

Monitoring Energy Consumption and Your Solar System
Energy Waves helps you track your home's energy consumption. If you don't save your SDG&E bills and can't get the information from your online SDG&E account, you can try setting up a quick account with Energy Waves by clicking
Follow these instructions to sign on and access the data of your energy usage.
In the top right list, click “Registration.”
Enter your SDG&E Account Number, your electric Meter number (found on your bill), your zip code, and your email address.
Once you click “Register,” an email will be sent to you with a password to access your information.
Once you have retreieved your password from you email account, return to the link above to sign-in. Your Login ID is your SDG&E Account number, and your password was sent to your email.
After you have logged on, you will be prompted to change your password. Make sure to change it to something you will remember!
You can select either your gas or electric meter and then select “Total Usage” from the drop down menu to view the data and graph of your electrical usage for the past 18 months.
SunPower, the manufacturer of our solar panels, also allows customers to monitor their systems online. It will be exciting to watch your energy consumption and positive environmental impact grow every day!
