In 2006, the State of California passed the California Solar Initiative, which provides incentives to homes and businesses installing solar electric systems through the use of rebates. These rebates will decrease in value as more solar systems are installed. Therefore, the longer the decision to install solar is delayed, the more the rebate amount will likely be reduced.
In October of 2008 Congress revised an Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for the installation of new solar systems. This is a huge incentive for homeowners to put their interest in going solar into action now. The new ITC funds 30% of the cost of a solar system.
