Providing power at a fraction of the cost you currently pay your utility company, we have been installing electrical systems for more than 70 years.
How Solar Works
A photovoltaic electric system works directly with your existing electrical system. There’s no need to change your appliances, and there aren’t any batteries involved. Nothing inside your home changes. An inverter takes the DC power directly from the solar panels and converts it to the same AC power your home uses. The AC energy is then sent to your existing service panel which distributes electricity throughout your home. At certain times of the day, your solar system will typically create more power than you are using. This excess power will be sent to your electrical meter, causing the meter to run backwards, and gaining “credits” with the utility company. You will then draw these energy credits from the grid on a cloudy day or at night when your system is not producing energy from the sun.
The California Solar Initiative, combined with federal tax incentives, can substantially reduce the total cost of your solar system.
TURNING SOLAR DC ENERGY INTO TYPICAL AC ENERGY
The process of converting the sun's rays into usable electricity is relatively simple. The sun's rays are collected by the Photovoltaic (solar) panels. The panels create DC power, which is sent to the inverter.
DIRECTING POWER INTO YOUR ELECTRICAL BOX
The inverter converts the DC power to AC power, which is the type of power your home can utilize. This AC power is fed to the main meter panel.
METERING THE ENERGY YOU CREATE
The amount of AC power converted results in what is termed "net metering". Observing the meter going in reverse is a wonderful site to see!
Baker Electric Solar system is aesthetically integrated into your home. Simple and reliable, our installation comes with a 10 year warranty on the entire system and up to 25 years on the panels.
A small (2,5kW) residential system will annually eliminate over 6,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere.
