When Baker Electric Solar comes to install photovoltaic solar panels, we will integrate your new solar powered energy system into the existing electrical system in the home or place of business. This seamless merging is quite simple for customers, so there's no need to change appliances, and there aren't any batteries involved. Nothing inside your home changes when you get solar energy panels. Well, nothing changes except for the new smile on your face when you write that much smaller check to the electricity company each month. Click here to read more.
The details of how photovoltaic solar panels work might be complicated, but the BES system layout is not hard to understand. The process of converting the sun's rays into usable electricity is relatively simple. The sun's rays are collected by the Photovoltaic (solar) panels. The panels create DC power, which is sent to the inverter. An inverter takes the DC power directly from the solar panels and converts it to the same AC power your home uses. The AC energy is then sent to your existing service panel which distributes electricity throughout your home. That means your home is running on pure, renewable energy instead of producing pollution to power the television or your lights. Good work! A small (2,5kW) residential system will annually eliminate over 6,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere.
At certain times of the day your solar system may generate more electricity than you are using. This excess power will be sent through your electrical meter to the power company's electrical grid, causing the meter to run backwards and gaining "credits" with the utility company. You will then be able to draw these energy credits from the grid on a cloudy day or at night when your system is not producing energy from the sun but you still need electricity. The amount of AC power converted results in what is termed "net metering". Observing the meter going in reverse is a wonderful site to see! This feature and the increased effectiveness of the solar panels we install gives every solar power system we install far more effectiveness and flexibility than this type of technology used to be capable of.
The ability to establish energy independence means a solar energy system can lead to significant savings over its lifetime. The California Solar Initiative, combined with federal tax incentives, can substantially reduce the total cost of your solar system so that the installation itself is a viable option for more people. And at Baker Electric Solar we pay close attention to aesthetically integrating every system with the client's home. Our process is simple and reliable. We begin by surveying the property to create customized plans describing the best place to install our photovoltaic solar panels. Our installation comes with a 10 year warranty on the entire system and up to 25 years on the panels.
